Episode 1 – Children’s Hope Foundation
March 20, 2019
Debbie Joslin joins Christine Reidhead in this episode to talk about Episode 1 – Children’s Hope Foundation in Farmington, NM.
Debbie talks about how Children’s Hope Foundation was founded.
In 2016, San Juan Medical Foundation gave to IGW Pediatric Cancer Foundation their Hope Children’s Fund.
Debbie was serving on the board and then got the job to be the Executive Director. Debbie is serving as the first Executive Director. They went through a name change then, but kept IGW and added Children’s Hope Foundation. They have gone through a rebranding the last couple years and bought a new building.
This transition has brought more exposure.
They serve about 18 children per month and 200 children per year. Eighteen of those children have cancer, they serve all children.
An artist came in and worked with the children. They are trying to bring in things so the children can have a good, safe place to go.
Debbie stated they produce a magazine each year, called, “The Courageous Journal.” The magazine has everything they need to tell others about the organization, staff, board members, partners, donors, stories, pictures and captions. Also includes paid advertisement so it pays for itself. They do two magazines a year.
Main two fundraisers: Walk for Hope is on April 13, 2019 and The Gala is on October 12, 2019.
Some of their greatest successes are the children and their families.
Debbie shared most of their funding comes from private donors. They have a new grant writer that they hope can bring in more funds.
Funding is the biggest challenge.
The community could be more involved in fundraising at the Walk of Hope and the Gala.
They are a 501c3.
Children’s Hope Foundation is such a worthy cause. Children do not ask for this and it is very life changing. They want to be there for these children and support them.
Thank you Children’s Hope Foundation and all you are doing for these children!
