The Life Stories of Leland Barney – Episode 10
How Leland and Phyllis used to spend time with both parents and their relationship
Hello there and welcome to this tenth episode of the life stories of Leland Barney podcast. He is joined up by your lovely host, Christine Reidhead
Highlights from the episode;
- Leland mostly talks about how they used to spend time with his parents and Phyllis’s parents.
He starts by talking about his dad and Phyllis’s dad. He says that his dad was a high councilman and usually went to New Mexico to do his high council visits. One day, both parents were having dinner in the church and Barney’s dad told Phyllis’s parents that it would have been nice if one of his boys would marry one of their daughters. Barney claims their parents had been hooking them up for a while, but never heard of that story not until after he had married Phyllis.
He says Ned was always there for them and he was so helpful, Barney was always excited to have him around. Barney describes some various businesses that Ned did. He says that he had the motivation to make any business work.
He then narrates about a day when he wanted to go to Mexico over Christmas, and asked Ned to go with him, they took Ned’s truck and had lots of food to take there, he talks up how Phyllis’s mother was excited grabbing the seashells.
As the episode continues, Barney tells a story about Christine’s grandmother. About when she visited and Barney used to drive up the hill with her in the car and circle around, but she always freaked out when coming down the hill and she would always joke how Barney was crazy when he did that.
Leland says that Phyllis’s parents loved yard selling, he describes how Ned woke up early in the morning and map everything and made a list of every yard sell. Tune in and catch Barney narrating all these stories in this episode.
